Originally the Occupy Homer GA was going to have members running up to Anchorage, to join in their march to port. After the GA on 12/10/2011 a proposal came up that was supported unanimously to march at the Port of Homer, Alaska.
This will NOT result in a port shutdown or blockade, we are simply standing in solidarity and wish to shed some light on local corporate endevours that affect our fishing industry. We are a fishing town and have been dubbed- "Halibut Capital of The World".
Our message is still the same:
Occupy Homer stands in support of the Occupy Anchorage protest on December 12th as a statement of solidarity with all Occupy protests. We stand for citizens rights granted in the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
We stand for this without threat of unwarranted violence from government agencies.
We will be meeting at Seafarers Memorial at 3:30pm.
On December 12, 2011, participants from the Occupy Homer group will be meeting in Anchorage for a rally and march to the Port of Anchorage. Here is the official statement consensed upon by the Occupy Homer General Assembly.

Occupy Homer wanted to be very clear that there was no consensus achieved in support of a port shutdown. To learn more about this action, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
